Master‘s Degree Project in Progress:

Exploring the Role of Interaction Design in Preserving Grassroots Feminist Cultural Fragments on Social Media

—A Focus on Femiphrases

Master‘s Degree Project 硕士毕业设计

> Introduction

On social media, countless witty and sharp feminist catchphrases—what I call femiphrases—are created, shared, and turned into cultural symbols of expression and solidarity. But they’re often fragmented, short-lived, and even at risk of being misused or forgotten. This project focuses on femiphrases, exploring how they emerge, evolve, and whether interaction design can help preserve and make sense of them.

Social media is inherently a co-creative space where people exchange ideas, play with language, and drive cultural conversations. I want to see how interaction design can engage with this dynamic process, ensuring that these grassroots cultural artifacts retain their impact and meaning as they circulate.
